This month I managed to catch a stubborn virus...started with sore throat and has all the elements of a nasty headcold(not that there are any good headcolds). My youngest grandkids(I get to keep them several times a week) had the virus to start with...they actually had strep throat also.
I drove to our beach house this week to wash a twin comforter that had come home after several years away. The wind was so strong...blowing the waves...and cold. I returned to the beach house on Wednesday. The weather was wonderful...calm waves, pleasant air. I sat on the upper deck just enjoying the view and the warm. It seemed to make the cold virus disappear for a few hours. I love the beach, but since we rent it out during the peak spring and summer months, I do not get to enjoy this house as much as I would like. But I need the income to pay the taxes and expenses there. Mustn't complain.

Just Venting
Feb has been an interesting month in the south. Cold, rain and snow, doctor appointments.
I have had a problem with a bedroom skylight. It was replace two years ago, but would leak sometimes. Not when it rained hard, but when it rained lightly. Yesterday the company sent repair crew...they discoved the seal had never been installed (at the factory). How does that happen? Aren't things inspected before they are shipped out?
Then to make my day even more ..the mattress company emailed us that our very expensive mattress, purchased Feb 2009 was not warranted for comfort. We had complained to the retailer and then contacted the mfg. There warranties only cover structural problems, but they said "comfort is not a warranty item". I thought that was the main advertising ...to buy a comfortable mattress. We even had the "in store" test, something that measures your body for the type of comfort you need and then purchased the mattress with each side fitting each persons body needs. Green for my husband, tan for me. You can never turn these heavy mattresses and you are stuck with the uncomfortable thing. So be warned...buy mattresses at your own risk! You are stuck with them. They told me they would solve our problem because they do not want me to "bad mouth" their company...and then they say "this is not under warranty".

Cold Weather
Is it going to warm up anytime soon? My grandson and I went outside today and the wind was strong, making for a rather cold, blustery day. I have decided to go tomorrow to my first ever yoga class. At my age that can be risky. It can also be risky to do nothing...so I am giving it a try. I have been using a yoga DVD, but I feel I need a little help to assure that I am doing it correctly. My lovely granddaughter is a dancer. Watching how limber she is causes me to wish I had been doing something to keep myself more limber. She is amazing to watch. My husband doesn't quite understand my love for the grandkids...he is an animal lover and enjoys watching animal life...anything outdoors. He is a marvel...he stays so active, even with heart problems.

Snow at the water
I awoke this morning alittle later than usual to find our home surrounded by snow and my four skylights covered in snow. I could not see the Intracoastal waterway (that is less than 300ft from my patio). The sky was very grey. Normally I can see small islands and the south end of the beach. Some birds were on the patio searching for food and they looked so very cold. One dove just sat there for hours. I wasn't sure he was still alive. I have enjoyed all the photos that friends and family have taken on this snow day, especially the children playing in the snow. I have not enjoyed being so cold, but am thankful that I have a home and it is heated. I am praying we do not lose power...I do not enjoy being cold. I can't seem to tolerate it as much as I have aged.

Husband's surgery
I am so grateful that my husband's gallbladder surgery went well today. He has had heart bypass twice, the last one in 2007. I am thankful that he makes it through these episodes, as he calls them. The Lord has been good to us. The surgery today only took 45 minutes. The doctor paged me just as I was finishing lunch. I thought "it is too soon..something must have gone wrong." But it was good news. I hope now that he will follow the surgeons orders and not think they don't apply to him. He can be so stubborn about that sometimes. Many church friends and others were praying for him and asking about him. He was rather funny, trying to get dressed while under the influence of "sleep" drugs. He kept stumbling and almost falling over. He could hardly stay awake to eat dinner, although he was hungry from not eating today. He amazes me.

I am still working on how to comment to other blogs sites.
Monday after Christmas
Today, as with most Mondays, I was with my grandson. Only today it started at 7:40am and lasted until 6pm. School is out for "Christmas break" and his parents were working. About 2pm, as we were playing outside with our tractors..he said "I just love days like this". Grammy power!!! We had a busy, fun day. We discovered a "heavy roller" (that is used on making highways, etc) at the shop. He was so excited, climbed up on it and pretended to use it. Then he took me inside to "pretend" to ride with him on the 4 wheeler. I love his imagination. He doesn't have many friends in his new neighbor yet, and they don't play with tractors he says. So I do! My daughter and her family have traveled to Florida to spend the most of their Christmas break. Everyone else went back to work. My husband is scheduled to have his gallbladder removed this Monday. Sure hope all goes easy...he has had two heart bypasses. He is such a marvel...he takes everything in stride...trusting in the Lord. My Mom had her gallbladder removed 10 years ago, started out to be the simple surgery, ended up being major surgery. She was 78 and still complains of what a terrible surgery to go through.
