Snow at the water

I awoke this morning alittle later than usual to find our home surrounded by snow and my four skylights covered in snow.  I could not see the Intracoastal waterway (that is less than 300ft from my patio). The sky was very grey. Normally I can see small islands and the south end of the beach.  Some birds were on the patio searching for food and they looked so very cold. One dove just sat there for hours. I wasn't sure he was still alive.  I have enjoyed all the photos that friends and family have taken on this snow day, especially the children playing in the snow.  I have not enjoyed being so cold, but am thankful that I have a home and it is heated.  I am praying we do not lose power...I do not enjoy being cold.  I can't seem to tolerate it as much as I have aged.

Husband's surgery

I am so grateful that my husband's gallbladder surgery went well today.  He has had heart bypass twice, the last one in 2007.  I am thankful that he makes it through these episodes, as he calls them.  The Lord has been good to us.  The surgery today only took 45 minutes. The doctor paged me just as I was finishing lunch.  I thought "it is too soon..something must have gone wrong."  But it was good news.  I hope now that he will follow the surgeons orders and not think they don't apply to him.  He can be so stubborn about that sometimes.  Many church friends and others were praying for him and asking about him.  He was rather funny, trying to get dressed while under the influence of "sleep" drugs.  He kept stumbling and almost falling over.  He could hardly stay awake to eat dinner, although he was hungry from not eating today.  He amazes me.

I am still working on how to comment to other blogs sites.

Monday after Christmas

Today, as with most Mondays, I was with my grandson. Only today it started at 7:40am and lasted until 6pm.  School is out for "Christmas break" and his parents were working.  About 2pm, as we were playing outside with our tractors..he said "I just love days like this".  Grammy power!!! We had a busy, fun day. We discovered a "heavy roller" (that is used on making highways, etc) at the shop. He was so excited, climbed up on it and pretended to use it.  Then he took me inside to "pretend" to ride with him on the 4 wheeler.  I love his imagination.  He doesn't have many friends in his new neighbor yet, and they don't play with tractors he says.  So I do!  My daughter and her family have traveled to Florida to spend the most of their Christmas break.  Everyone else went back to work.  My husband is scheduled to have his gallbladder removed this Monday.  Sure hope all goes easy...he has had two heart bypasses.  He is such a marvel...he takes everything in stride...trusting in the Lord.  My Mom had her gallbladder removed 10 years ago, started out to be the simple surgery, ended up being major surgery. She was 78 and still complains of what a terrible surgery to go through.

Mondays

I got to spend most of this day with my favorite grandson.  Okay, he is my only grandson.  He will be 6 in July.  His imagination is wonderful.  He is so much fun to have around, until about 6pm. Then he gets a little grumpy.  I guess he just gets so tired...he yawned.  We have another day planned..Wednesday. Next week he is back to kindergarten...so we only play after school on most Mondays and Wednesday. Such a treat.

Snow day

It has snowed twice here today.  They grandkids are excited about that.  When I looked out my patio doors about 7pm, turned on the lights to see the snow, there stood three deer trying to eat at the bird feeder. Of course, the lights scared them and they moved away.  You just never know what is right outside your back door(or front door as my husband calls it because it faces the waterway).  Isn't that the way our life is sometimes?  We just don't know what's right outside, or around the corner and sometimes we just miss it.

Christmas Eve

How blessed I am to have my children and grandchildren all live within a few miles. Today we gathered at my oldest son's home to see what Santa had left his 2 children (5) and (2 1/2).  They were so excited..we had brunch there.  Then to my Mom's for Christmas Eve dinner and present exchange.  All were there and laughter was heard through out the house.  Plenty of food, too much actually.  Tomorrow we will all gather here for more present exchanges and lunch.  My daughter is preparing her awesome standing rib roast and creamed potatoes, my Mom her collards.  My dad died 10 years ago and we are so glad that Mom is still with us.  My husband is so kind and generous, always wanted this to be a good Christmas.  But as Christians, any Christmas is a reminder of the greatest gift of all.  May we not forget it is His day, not ours.  Merry Christmas to all...hope you have a good and blessed day.
